LAZARO AMARAL
Artist in residence for ten years at the South Florida Arts Center, teaching in the Center's educational programs. Taught Printmaking and Silkscreen for 13 years. Artistic philosophy: "Teaching allows me to do what I love and maintain my artistic work and vision. My drawing and printmaking skills have brought me personal success in telling a story to the viewer. I work with images from my past and how they speaks to me. I then create a space in time that shows action and movement with bold lines and colors, sometimes abstract to the viewer and at other times cartoonish in its frankness and appearance. I experiment with the body and its ghost-like appearance within the context of a child’s nightmare. The viewer is drawn to the almost animated surface of my work, but in its individual contents it is showing its rawness." Installations, projects: The Here and Now festival and Amnesty International USA. Antonio Coro, Finding your "Artists Voice"
ANTONIO CORO
Began classical art training in the Dalia Condis Art School in New Jersey at the age of 11. He received his B.F.A. from Jersey City State College in 1990, and his M.F.A. from Rutger's University in 1992. Mr. Coro has won; the Liquitex Fine Art Achievement in 1987, The Brendan Byrne Fellowship (Rutger's) in 1990, Rutger's teaching fellowship in 1991, The Pollock-Krasner grant in 2006, and The Mas grant in 2020. He has been exhibiting professionally since 1986. My Teaching Philosophy: I believe art is a language and we must understand its elements (composition, chiaroscuro, perspective etc.). However, as a teacher I use the Socratic method of pulling out from the student's point of view. I try not to enforce my personal aesthetics but help them find their voice and make it stronger. |
